The Bras d‘Or Lakes cover over 3,500 km2 of forest and watery ecosystems in the centre of Cape Breton Island. The Lakes and Watershed were declared the Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Reserve, a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) site, in 2011.
We are proud to tour waters that have been recognized for their research potential and preservation. We honour those that lived off these waters before us, specifically the Mi’kmaq.

Tour Highlights
And of course, there’s our own Amoeba Tours on the WinStar. Embark on an adventure tour of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that is the Bras d’Or Lakes when you visit Cape Breton. Our crew will educate you on the salt water lake on which we sail, and the history of Baddeck, including Alexander Graham Bell’s summer mansion and Beinn Breagh property.
